A browser is not a VPN. Saving a video does not hide your IP address from the site that served it or from your network operator. Tracking protection is list-based and not absolute. People type “video downloader” when they want a file on the phone and not a tile in Photos. The Camera Roll is a public-feeling place on a shared device: widgets, Memories, AirDrop sheets, and anyone who opens the library. The product is the destination, not a site list
Most downloader listings are a roster of hosts. We will not write one. Pages change. Embed players change. A table of names would be out of date the week it shipped, and it would read like a guarantee. Whether a page offers a file you can save is that page’s behavior. Our claim is narrower: if you start a download in this app, the file is meant to land in the vault, not in Photos.
That is an honest product sentence. It is also a limit. If a site does not expose a file, this browser cannot invent one. If a site requires a login, that site still sees you. If a site forbids saving, you are responsible for using the app lawfully. Rated 17+ means unrestricted web access, not a license to ignore the rules of a host.
Search engines still see queries you send them. Suggestions stay off until you agree to share a keystroke. Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia, or a custom engine are choices for search, not a back door into someone else’s media library. Why Photos is the wrong shelf for a private file
Photos is built to surface pictures. A video that lands there can show up in places you did not intend: a shared album prompt, a TV, a person scrolling the library. Files is a similar shelf with a different icon. Both are the wrong end of the pipe if the reason you saved the clip was to keep it out of those shelves.

What happens after the transfer
The site that served the file still had a request. Your IP address was visible to that site and to the network. Sealing the bytes afterward does not rewrite those logs. Encryption on disk is about residue on this iPhone, not anonymity on the path.
There is no plain copy left for a file manager to thumbnail. There is no cloud folder on a server we run. There are no accounts. The App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected. Lose the phone, forget the passcode, and there is nothing for us to restore. The passcode is never stored. It becomes the key. Forgotten passcodes cannot be recovered.
Vault files are excluded from backups. They stay on the device. That is the opposite of “save it so iCloud can find it later.” If you needed a second copy, you would be using a different kind of product. We do not sell that product. The backup story is Vault Files and iCloud Backup.
Erase, panic, and the decoy
One-tap erase closes every tab and destroys cookies, cache, and site data. It does not empty the vault. You can wipe a browsing session and still keep the clip you saved. That surprise is documented on purpose so nobody treats the trash control as a full factory reset of the app.
A panic code at the lock screen silently wipes tabs, the entire vault, and the break-in log, then opens what looks like a fresh start. Self-destruct, after too many wrong codes, destroys saved tabs and can optionally take the vault. Both are permanent. Erased data cannot be recovered, by you or by us.
The decoy passcode opens a clean, empty browser. Real tabs stay hidden. Vault files do not appear in that scene. Hand the phone over and the person is not browsing your downloads. How this sits next to the free browser
The free core has no history file, on-device ad and tracker blocking from bundled Disconnect lists, one-tap erase, HTTPS-Only Mode, and App Lock. Blocking is not 100 percent. HTTPS-Only asks before falling back to insecure HTTP. None of that is a downloader. None of that hides IP addresses.
