Terms of Service
Last updated: July 16, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and AppHaze ("we," "us," or "our," together with the Private Browser team) governing your use of the Private Browser Incognito mobile application and any updates, content, and related services (collectively, "the App"). Please read them carefully. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
Private Browser is a web browser that keeps no history and collects no data about you. You decide where it goes, so you are responsible for what you do with it. Its erase, panic, and self-destruct features permanently destroy data on purpose, and your passcode cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Purchases are handled by Apple. Browse lawfully, and understand that a browser alone does not make you anonymous on the internet.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Private Browser, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download or use the App. If you are using the App on behalf of another person, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for them.
2. Eligibility & Age
The App is a web browser with unrestricted access to the internet. It is rated 17+ and intended for adults. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 17 years of age, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if that age is higher, and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. Because the App can reach any website, it is not appropriate for children, and we do not direct it at them. We may restrict access where the App is not permitted by local law.
3. Description of the App
Private Browser is a privacy-focused web browser for iOS that provides:
- Private browsing by architecture: Every tab runs in a non-persistent browsing session held in memory. The App has no browsing-history feature at all, and cookies, caches, and site data live only until the session is erased or the App's data is otherwise cleared.
- Tracking protection: Content-blocking rules, powered by the open Disconnect tracker lists and bundled inside the App, that block known ad, analytics, social, and other trackers on your device, with per-category toggles, cookie controls, and per-site exceptions.
- One-tap erase and Auto-Erase: Controls that close all tabs and destroy the browsing session on demand, from a home-screen quick action, or automatically after a period away from the App.
- HTTPS-Only Mode: Connections are upgraded to HTTPS where possible, and the App asks before loading an insecure page.
- App Lock: An optional six-digit passcode and Face ID (or Touch ID / Optic ID) lock. The passcode itself is never stored; it is used to derive the cryptographic key that seals your data.
- Stealth Suite (optional purchase): Decoy passcodes that open a clean separate browser, a panic code that wipes data from the lock screen, break-in alerts with optional intruder photos, self-destruct after repeated failed unlock attempts, an encrypted downloads vault, alternate app icon colors, and the Auto-Erase timer.
- Search choices: Built-in search engines (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia) plus user-added custom engines, with search suggestions off by default and enabled only after an explicit opt-in.
We may add, change, or remove features from time to time. Feature availability is described in the App, and some capabilities require an in-app purchase, as set out below.
4. Privacy
The App is designed to operate without collecting personal information. We run no servers for the App, require no account, embed no third-party analytics or advertising, and never receive your browsing data. Our Privacy Policy explains in detail what stays on your device, what the App sends and to whom (in short: the traffic of the sites you choose to visit, opt-in search suggestions to your chosen engine, and Apple's purchase processing), and the choices you control.
5. Your Responsibility for How You Browse
The App is a tool. You steer it. Private Browser gives you unrestricted access to the web and does not monitor, filter, or moderate the content you visit. You acknowledge and agree that:
- You are solely responsible for the websites you visit, the searches you run, the content you view, the files you download, and everything you submit to any website through the App.
- You will use the App in compliance with all laws that apply to you, including laws on content, copyright, computer misuse, surveillance, and privacy.
- Content on the web belongs to the sites and people who publish it. We do not control it, endorse it, or accept responsibility for it, and it may be inaccurate, offensive, or unlawful in your jurisdiction.
- Privacy features (including erase, decoy sessions, the panic code, and the vault) exist to protect your lawful private life. They must not be used to further unlawful activity, to destroy evidence you are legally required to preserve, or to evade a lawful obligation.
6. Privacy Is Not Anonymity
Private Browser makes your device forget your browsing. It does not, and cannot, make the internet forget you were there.
You acknowledge and understand that:
- The App is not a VPN, proxy, or anonymity network. It does not route, relay, or disguise your traffic.
- Websites you visit can still see your IP address and other information your connection necessarily reveals, and they may log your visit under their own policies.
- Your network can still see your traffic patterns. Your internet provider, mobile carrier, employer, school, or Wi-Fi operator may observe the domains you connect to, and may keep records under their own policies or under law.
- Search engines receive what you send them. Searches you run, and suggestion keystrokes if you opt in to suggestions, go to the engine you selected and are handled under that engine's own terms and privacy policy.
- Websites you sign in to know who you are. No browser can make you anonymous to a service you log in to.
We state these limits here because overstating privacy would be worse than not offering it. Do not rely on the App for anonymity, and do not represent it to others as an anonymity tool.
7. Tracking Protection: What It Does and Does Not Do
Tracking protection uses content-blocking rules compiled from lists bundled with the App, powered by the open Disconnect tracker lists. You acknowledge that:
- Blocking is based on known trackers on those lists. New, unlisted, or first-party tracking techniques may not be blocked, and no blocker catches everything.
- The on-page tracker counter is an estimate produced on your device for your information. It is not a guarantee that everything counted was harmful or that nothing was missed.
- Blocking can break some websites. You can add per-site exceptions, and turning protection off for a site means that site's trackers are not blocked.
- Lists are updated only when the App itself is updated. The App never downloads rules from the network.
8. Data-Destruction Features & Irreversible Loss
Several features of the App exist specifically to destroy data, immediately and permanently. That is their purpose, and it cannot be undone.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Erase (the trash button, the home-screen quick action, and the
privatebrowser://eraselink) closes all tabs and destroys the browsing session, including cookies, caches, and any saved tab snapshot. It does not delete the downloads vault. - Auto-Erase does the same automatically after the away-time interval you chose.
- The panic code, entered at the lock screen, additionally destroys the entire downloads vault and the break-in log.
- Self-destruct, if you enable it, destroys your saved tabs after the number of consecutive failed passcode attempts you chose, and optionally destroys the vault as well. Anyone repeatedly entering wrong codes on your locked device can trigger it. That is the feature working as designed.
- Deleting the App deletes all of its data, including the vault, permanently.
- Destroyed data cannot be recovered by you, by us, or by anyone. We keep no copies; there is nothing to restore from. Vault contents are also excluded from device backups by design, so no backup copy exists either.
You accept full responsibility for configuring and using these features, and for any loss of data that results from their operation as described. Keep your own copies, outside the App, of anything you cannot afford to lose.
9. Passcodes Cannot Be Recovered
Your App Lock passcode is never stored, in any form, anywhere. It is used to derive the encryption key that seals your saved tabs, and everything sealed under it is only readable with that passcode or your enrolled biometrics. Consequently:
- There is no passcode reset, no recovery email, and no back door. We could not open your data if you asked us to, and we cannot be compelled to do what is cryptographically impossible.
- If you forget your passcode and cannot use biometrics, data sealed under it is permanently inaccessible. Reinstalling the App will let you use it again, but the previous data is gone.
- Decoy and panic passcodes you configure are equally unrecoverable. Remember which code is which; the App cannot tell you.
10. Security Features Are Safeguards, Not Guarantees
App Lock, biometrics, the decoy and panic codes, break-in alerts, self-destruct, the stealth cover, and the encrypted vault are serious, carefully engineered safeguards. They are not magic. You acknowledge that:
- No security measure is absolute. A sufficiently capable attacker with physical possession of an unlocked device, knowledge of your passcode, or control of your Apple Account may defeat protections.
- The App's protections operate inside your device's security. They complement, and cannot replace, a strong device passcode, up-to-date iOS, and sensible physical security.
- Alternate icon colors change how the App's icon looks, not its name or its presence on the device. Someone searching the device can still find the App.
- The decoy session is designed to be convincing, but we cannot guarantee that a determined examiner will not discover that Stealth Suite exists.
- You are responsible for assessing whether the App's protections fit your personal risk situation, especially if your safety depends on them.
11. Break-In Alerts & Intruder Photos
Break-in alerts log failed unlock attempts on your device. The optional Intruder Photo feature, when you enable it and grant camera permission, silently captures a front-camera photo of the person entering wrong codes at the lock screen. These photos are encrypted and stored only on your device, and we never see or receive them. By using these features you agree that:
- You are the one taking these photographs. You enable the feature, you set the threshold, and the resulting photos are yours, under your control.
- You will use them lawfully. Laws on photographing people without consent, surveillance, and use of such images differ by jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use complies with the laws that apply to you, and for anything you do with a captured photo, including exporting or sharing it.
- The feature is intended to help you know whether someone tried to get into your browser. It is not intended for, and must not be used for, monitoring people in ways the law forbids.
- Photos capture whoever is in front of the camera when a wrong code is entered, which could include people you know. Consider the thresholds you set.
12. Downloads & the Encrypted Vault
The downloads vault (a Stealth Suite feature) streams files you choose to download into encrypted storage on your device. You acknowledge and agree that:
- You may only download content you have the right to download. Downloading copyrighted material without permission, or content that is unlawful to possess in your jurisdiction, is prohibited. The vault encrypts your files; it does not change what the law says about them.
- Downloads are fetched by the App directly from the website you are visiting, carrying that site's session cookies so that files behind your logins work. The transfer is between your device and that site.
- Sharing or exporting a vault file necessarily creates a decrypted copy outside the App, which is then beyond the App's protection. The App warns you before this happens.
- Vault files are excluded from device backups by design. Deleting the App, the panic code, and (if enabled) self-destruct destroy the vault permanently, as described in Section 8.
- Some downloads cannot be captured (for example, files generated by a form submission), and the App will tell you when that is the case.
13. License to Use the App
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download and use the App on an Apple-branded device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use. This license is governed by the Apple App Store terms referenced below. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by us.
14. Apple App Store Terms
The following terms apply because you obtained the App through the Apple App Store. You and we acknowledge that:
- These Terms are concluded between you and us only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content.
- Your license to use the App is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the App may be accessed by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
- Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide any maintenance or support services for the App. Any maintenance or support questions should be directed to us through our support page.
- To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the App. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims will be our responsibility, not Apple's.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- If a third party claims that the App or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such claim to the extent required by these Terms.
- You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting," and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any applicable third-party agreements (for example, your wireless data plan) when using the App.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
15. In-App Purchases
Private Browser is free to download and use. It offers an optional premium tier, "Stealth Suite," available as an auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, processed exclusively through Apple's App Store. By making a purchase, you agree that:
- All billing is handled by Apple Inc. We do not process payments directly and never receive your payment details.
- Prices are shown in the App before you confirm a purchase and may vary by region and change over time. The price you are charged is the price Apple displays at confirmation.
- Purchases unlock features within the App only. They convey no ownership of the App and no rights beyond the license in these Terms.
- Refund requests must be directed to Apple through their standard process at reportaproblem.apple.com. Except where required by law, purchases are non-refundable by us.
- You can re-enable purchases on a new device with "Restore Purchases" in the App, signed in with the same Apple Account.
16. Stealth Suite Subscription
Stealth Suite unlocks the premium protection features described in Section 3, including decoy passcodes, the panic code, break-in alerts with intruder photos, self-destruct, the encrypted downloads vault, app icon colors, and Auto-Erase. If you purchase a subscription:
- Stealth Suite is offered monthly or yearly. The yearly plan may include an introductory free trial. Current prices, and any trial and its length, are shown in the App before you confirm.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free trial if you started one.
- The subscription automatically renews for the same period at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited when you purchase a non-trial plan.
- You can manage the subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops future charges; benefits continue until the end of the period already paid for.
- If we change a subscription price, Apple will notify you and, where required, seek your consent to continue, in accordance with Apple's policies.
17. The Lifetime Unlock
The one-time "Lifetime" purchase unlocks Stealth Suite permanently, without renewal. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of the App: for as long as we offer Private Browser and its Stealth Suite features, on devices signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase. It is not transferable to another person, does not survive the discontinuation of the App, and does not entitle you to any particular future feature. We intend to support the App for a long time, and if we ever discontinue it we will say so plainly, but a discontinued app does not oblige us to refund a lifetime purchase made through Apple except where the law requires it.
18. If Your Subscription Lapses
We do not hold your data hostage. If your Stealth Suite subscription expires or is refunded:
- Protections you already enabled (such as decoy passcodes, the panic code, break-in alerts, self-destruct, and Auto-Erase) remain active and manageable, so a lapsed payment never silently disarms your security.
- Files already in your downloads vault remain accessible to you. Starting new downloads requires an active Stealth Suite unlock.
- Enabling new premium protections or adding new decoy codes again requires an active unlock.
We may reasonably adjust the exact lapse behavior between versions, but always on the principle that lapsing payment must not lock you out of your own data or disarm protections you rely on.
19. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful, personal purposes. You may not:
- Use the App to access, download, store, or distribute content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction, or to infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of anyone;
- Use the App to harass, stalk, defraud, or harm others, or to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or network;
- Use the App's privacy or data-destruction features to destroy evidence you are under a legal obligation to preserve, or to obstruct a lawful investigation;
- Use break-in alerts or intruder photos to conduct surveillance that the law forbids;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- Copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the App;
- Rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, distribute, or otherwise commercially exploit the App;
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with the App's security features or purchase gating;
- Represent the App as an anonymity tool, a VPN, or a service that makes unlawful activity untraceable. It is none of those things.
20. Intellectual Property
The App and all of its content, including software, code, design, graphics, text, and the Private Browser branding as used by AppHaze, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The phrase "private browser" is a generic description of a kind of software; our rights are in our particular app, its branding, and its original content, not in the idea of private browsing. Tracking protection is powered by the open Disconnect lists, which are used under their public license and remain the work of their authors. Except for the limited license granted in these Terms, nothing grants you any right, title, or interest in the App or its content. You may not use our names, logos, or trademarks without our prior written permission.
21. Feedback
If you send us suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the App, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback for any purpose, including to improve the App, without any obligation or compensation to you. You confirm that you have the right to provide such feedback.
22. Updates & Availability
We may release updates, patches, or new versions of the App, and we may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Some updates may be required for continued use, and tracking-protection lists are refreshed through App updates. We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we may discontinue the App entirely at our discretion. The App itself runs on your device and needs the network only for the web traffic you direct, so it does not depend on any server of ours to function.
23. Third-Party Websites, Engines & Services
The App is a window onto content and services we do not operate:
- Websites you visit are operated by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability, security, or practices.
- Search engines (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia, or any custom engine you add) receive the searches you send them and, if you opt in, suggestion keystrokes. Your use of an engine is governed by that engine's terms.
- Apple's App Store and StoreKit handle all purchases under Apple's terms and policies.
Aside from Apple's own frameworks, the App integrates no third-party advertising, analytics, attribution, or tracking services. Links from this website or the App do not imply endorsement.
24. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement. Without limiting that, we do not warrant that the App will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that tracking protection will block any particular tracker; that any security feature will withstand any particular attack; that the decoy session will go undetected; or that data you intend to keep will never be lost. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
25. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or privacy, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the App.
- We are not liable for the intended operation of data-destruction features: data erased by Erase, Auto-Erase, the panic code, or self-destruct, or sealed forever by a forgotten passcode, is destroyed by design, and its loss is not damage we are responsible for.
- We are not liable for the content, conduct, or data practices of websites you visit, search engines you use, or files you download, nor for what third parties (including network operators) observe about your traffic.
- We are not liable for consequences of security features being defeated by attack, nor for your use of intruder photos or other features in violation of law.
- Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the App shall not exceed the greater of the amount you actually paid to us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim, or five U.S. dollars (US$5.00).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of these limitations may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for willful misconduct.
26. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AppHaze, the Private Browser team, and our affiliates, officers, and employees from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or connected with your misuse of the App, the content you access or download with it, your use of intruder photos or surveillance-adjacent features, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
27. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device; doing so permanently deletes the App's data, including the vault. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App, or any part of it, at any time and without notice if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the App. Upon termination, the license granted to you ends and you must stop using the App. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
28. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which AppHaze is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise. You agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute with us informally by contacting us through our support page. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing in these Terms affects your mandatory statutory consumer rights.
29. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the App.
30. General Provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Export compliance. The App uses standard Apple cryptography frameworks and is distributed in accordance with applicable export regulations. You agree not to export or re-export the App in violation of any applicable law.
